Immunohistochemistry and histochemistry are techniques used for the identification and the visualization of molecules in cells and tissues. These techniques have been, and still are of the utmost importance in clinical and life science.
This overview will present basic techniques to visualize specific molecules in histological tissue sections. Examples will address the optimization of protocols and the critical evaluation of results. Recent techniques for 3D imaging and model reconstruction of thick biological tissue using light microscopy will be introduced.
