- Overview of Immunohistochemistry and Histochemistry -

Bellier Jean-Pierre (Molecular Neuroscience Research Center)

@Immunohistochemical (IHC) and histochemical (HC) methods are used for the identification and visualization of molecules in cells and tissues. Since the initial development of methods by the end of the 19th century, continuous innovative improvements in reagents and imaging technology have constantly extended possible applications. Nowadays, immunohistochemistry and histochemistry are essential tools in clinical and life science.

This overview explains and describes:
- Basics of histological and staining (IHC and HC) methods.
- Principles for optimization and validation of protocols.
- IHC vs HC, examples of clinical diagnostic for Hirschsprungfs disease.
- Capabilities of the DeltaVision high-resolution imaging system.
- The basics of tissue transparency (clarification), and whole tissue 3D-reconstruction and modeling using IMARIS software.
