Lecture in English
Introduction of laser fluorescence microscope

Shintaro Tanaka (Leica Microsystems)

This lecture introduces the fundamentals of fluorescence confocal laser scanning microscopy. Topics include the principles of fluorescence, confocal optical design, image formation, optical sectioning, three-dimensional imaging, and advanced functional imaging options such as fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM). The advantages and limitations of confocal microscopy, together with common biological applications, will be discussed. The course is intended for students and researchers seeking a basic understanding of fluorescence imaging techniques.
